Happy Birthday Google!
As, probably, very few of you know, today (September 27) is the day one of the best things was invented… GOOGLE. We all have used Google at least 50 times in our life. Most of us probably have it as our home page for internet. (But seriously, if you are still using Explorer, switch to Mozilla Firefox… much better.) Today, is Google’s 12th birthday. We should sing. Do you wanna sing? Let’s sing:
“Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday, dear Google.
Happy Birthday to you!”
And now….
“How old are you now?
How old are you now?
How old,
How old?
Please tell us right now.
Are ya 1?
Are ya 2?
Are ya 3?
Are ya 4?
Are ya 5?
Are ya 6?
Are ya 7?
Are ya 8?
Are ya 9?
Are ya 10?
Are ya 11?
Are ya 12????
Yes?
YAYYYY!!!!!!”
Google better apreciate this, that was REALLY hard to write. Try it some time.
Okay so, what is it that we like most about Google?
Personally, I like it because of the random ideas it gives for your searches. You know-in mid-type you realize that Google had givin you sugestions and you just stop typing and read all the sugestions. Also, you get MILLIONS of posts for you to look at for your topic.
How about you? What’s your favourite thing about Google that makes you keep using it to find your info? Leave a comment or video response in the comment section below! THANKS!!!!
First Week of Grade 7!!
Hey, me again! As most of you know, I am finally in grade seven! Still at Lawfield. Still blogging. Still totally random and awesome.
But now, rather than being in room 213 and having Mrs. Pipe as my teacher, I have a new teacher- Mr. Thompson!
I officially survived my first week on Friday at the 3:00 bell right after french (last period.) So far, we haven’t learned much, just doing a repeat of last year math and getting hand cramps from writing after typing all summer. But this year, we are on the rotation. It’s good but bad at the same time. I just gets really confusing. Normally it wouldn’t be, since we’ve had to move from class to class before-gym, health, science, music-for pretty much the exact same classes. But we go next door for science with Ms. Snell, down the hall and around the corner for music with Mr. Wheeldon, to the gym for P.E. and health and we stay in our room for everything else.
What I’m really looking forward to this year is HISTORY! (/Geography) Why? I’ve always been interested in the past times since grade 4-Medieval Times-but now it’s no longer just ‘Social Studies’ but history! I feel so grown up.
There are only 3 new people in my class this year-Marissa, Zach and Chelsea. As it turns out, Chelsea knows some of my friends from my old school and went to my old school. Never even knew her then. *confused face* Marissa and I have started to become pretty good friends though. We’re into the same things, and yeah, that’s just it, we are into the same things. Zach on the other hand, I don’t really know. All I actually know is that his favourite sport is Football and he likes markers. (That’s all we have in common-we both like markers.)
By the way, I’m still getting into the actual spelling of words again because I was on MSN all summer-I never told you about my summer did I? Sorry Next post- so if you see me typing words that dont have vowels where they should be or using short forms like LOL or ROFL just leave a comment telling me what I spelt wrong and I wont fix it I’ll just mention you in my next post.
So really, that’s all I have to say about the first week. I’ll post about my summer on my other blog whitch you can read about in the post called “New Blog Domain” just below this post.
Until next time… PEACE!
Why Bats?
Hello. Its Allie here at 2:16am Eastern standard (I think) on Saturday August 28, 2010. I am SERIOUSLY freaked out right now because a bat just flew into my room at 1:30am. Just so you know, I haven’t gotten any sleep at all and have been awake since 12 noon on Friday.
This night started out how my normal nights do… Watch TV, go on the internet, chat on MSN, text and all the usual 12-year-old stuff. However. I am not at home, I am at my grandparent’s olden time house. This place has enough little noises as it is-ceiling fans, puppy, snoring grandpa-the usual stuff. But tonight, there were extra noises. Most could have been their dog Carl but, I was too scared to look. One was definitely an animal outside-perhaps a raccoon of sorts, I’m gonna check it out when I’m supposed to be awake.
Anyways. The night before tonight (Thursday night) I heard some weird noises too but thought more of those than tonight. I heard a bunch of scratches, metal on something, and other creepy noises. It started with my phone vibrating because I got a text (at 12:30am). Then I heard some sort of animal in the garden outside my room (of course, MY room). After that my ceiling fan. And some unexplainable noises that were possibly the bat.
So I hear these noises. Sit up. They stop. Lay down. Hear them. They get louder. Louder. Louder. And finally… I see a BAT fly into my room! It swoops all around but all you can hear is me screaming in terror. (I scream loud when I’m scared). About 3 or 4 minutes later it leaves my room and heads for the living room. At this point I’m totally freaked out and all that’s running through my mind is… B-B-B-B-B-B-BAT!!!!!!!!!!!
I ran as fast as I could to my grandparent’s room, opened the door and said, “I found, the bat,” and pointed in the direction of the living room. My grandma told me to go back to bed so Papa could catch the bat.
Shaken, I walked carefully back to my room, sat down on the bed and tears started coming down my face. Why? Well I had just realized what had really happened. Eventually I straightened up a little and started thinking-Wow. I really wish I got that on camera. But it’s too bad I forgot mine.
So, eventually my Papa comes out and I jumped when he opened his door. He asked me how I knew the bat was there and where he went. I told him that it unexpectedly came into my room then flew out to the living room. And at this point, Carl is freaking out because people are awake.
I followed my Papa out to the living room to see Carl freaking out in his cage and a bat hanging up-side-down on a picture frame. First thing I do? Take a picture with my phone. Second thing? Stare at it like its some sort of freak while I pet the puppy.
Eventually, my Papa goes over takes Carl outside while I watch the bat. Then he came in and poked it with a fly swatter. At first it didn’t move, then it started flying all around again. It got to the point where I was ducked down in the hallway scared half to death.
It took 45 minutes for the bat to scare the living day light out of me, fly around the ground floor, sleep 3 times in the process, and fly outside.
The one thing we can’t figure out? How it got into the house. We thought it was dead because it flew down a chimney that didn’t lead to the house anymore and that was where my papa was throwing the scrap materials from the chimney he was taking apart.
Well now it is 3am and I need sleep but I leave with a new fear of bats… GOOD NIGHT/MORNING blog readers. I must go. See you next post!
*same post on my other blog: alliewrites check it out and bye!*

Here It Comes…. There It Goes
Oranges. Bananas. Laptops. iPods. Family. Friends. What would the world be like without these things getting to us from long distanses in short periods of time? Really the question is: How do they get here so fast? Easy answer. Flight.
It takes a mere two hours to fly down from Canada to Florida. 21 to drive. Unknown for boat. By the time food like oranges and bananas get to Canada, they would most likely have gone bad in a car or truck. Where as in a cold plane, it could be in a cold area and they could make it really quick.
Personally, I like bananas. I like oranges. I feel it’s good to have technology like laptops and iPods. I love traveling. We can all do more with the ability to travel fast to get somewhere far. I travel all the time. Some of you do too. I really love it but many don’t get the ability or chance to do that. I’ve been on 8 planes in my 12 year old life.
Now, we’re getting to the down fall of traveling fast. When you travel fast, you can miss some parts that are important.
In the early days of family and friends, everyone saw eachother in their family and all their friends. They saw them because they lived in clans, and each family member in a village. This is how towns and villages got named after families. Now, we have to travel to other countries to get to see our family and some friends.
Alright. Now’s your chance. Tell your idea of a pro. and con. for traveling really fast to get somewhere far.
The Secret Book-Storybird
I can haz book published?
Hey! Me again. Well, I guess you’d already know that because-well-you were the one that opened my blog on your computer/laptop/iTouch/iPhone. *Tee Hee*
Okay so since I’ve already wasted you’re sweet Internet time, I guess I can get to my point for this blog post. If any of you have ever visited “icanhascheezburger.com” (its now in my “awesome links” part) you would understand my title. If not, it means that I am using horrible grammar to ask if I can have a book published. So since I really don’t know how to get a book properly published, I will share it with you. Then you can contact my teacher-if you know her-pipedreams.edublogs.org- you can help me.
Here’s the real point of this post. I had to write a short story for EQAO practice. My teacher and many other teachers at her conference thought it was good enough to be published. They say I have “A way with words” their words not mine. You people probably don’t think that considering I go off topic a LOT.
I don’t have a title for it but I hope you like it.

She sits at home. Day, after day. She’s waiting for something. She’s waiting for excitement. Adventure. Her dreams to come true. Little does she know, that time is soon…
RING! RING! Went her phone on an extra ordinary day. “He-Hello?” She asked awkwardly. No one ever calls her. Her parents haven’t even called her for two years now.
“Leana! Good, you’re not dead.” This added to Leana’s confusion. Who in the world could it be?
“I’m quite happy about that myself thanks. But wh-”
“OH! Sorry, it’s Dara,” The name ‘Dara’ sounded familiar. But she still couldn’t figure it out. “Dara Montgomery- your best friend from High School! I found the perfect thing for you! It should be in your mailbox by tomorrow. OH! Sorry I gotta go! Bye!” Beeeeeep. She’d hung up.
The day after the mysterious phone call, there was a knock at her door. She opened it sleepily to find her mailbox ajar with a large envelope hanging inside. Immediately, she grabbed it then tucked back inside the door. She tore it open to find plane tickets and a post card that read:
Dear Leana M.
We are pleased to say you have won an all expense paid trip to Machu Picchu, Peru. We hope you can make it!
Sincerely,
There was a smudge on the name. At this moment, Leana found herself thanking the postcard and skipping up stairs to pack for her trip.
Leana finally arrived in Machu Picchu. When she got there, she was greeted by a ravenous looking man-who was her tour guide, Jim- and three llamas. One was short and fluffy, another rather large and plump. The third, tall, skinny, fluffy and was wearing a badge that read “CHIEF.”
“Leana? Leana Monroe? Oh how pleasent to see you dear!” Jim had long sleek black hair and coal black eyes to match. “Now, now, no need to take your bags to the cabin yourself,” he clapped twice almost like he was trying to turn on a light, “Marco! Polo! Take these bags please.” The short and plump llamas came over and she loaded her luggage on their backs. “Now then, let’s go- we shall meet Manuello at the top.”
They took two donkies, and a cow to get to the mountain where they climbed with Chief to the top.
At the top, sure enough, they met up with a tall, skinny and a tad buff man named Manuello. In the middle of walking, Leana felt the ground give way under her. “HELP! HELP!” She cried, only to find Chief waiting in the tunnel. He led her through cobwebs, and tunnels. Left, right, up and down. By the time Chief had showed her out, Leana had found exactly what she was looking for-Adventure, excitement and encouragement!
A week later, Leana thanked everyone and got on her plane home. Thinking about the stories she’d tell everyone. Thinking about how happy she’d be the rest of her life. And thinking about how weird it was that a llama saved her life. But mostly, how excited she was to call her parents, Dara and co-workers when she got back.

Just so you know, the one on here is the “Special Extended Edition!” yeah! That’s what it is. There wasn’t near enough room on the page to put it down.
Alright so this is what I want YOU- the avid Internet blog reader- to do.
In the comment section press Shift and 8 to make a * then rate it like the movies and stuff. Also come up with an interesting title for my story. If you are awesome enough, you can maybe help me to get this published and send the word out about this post please.
That is all for this post. Once again thank you for wasting your precious Internet time on here. And this is Allison 213 signing off. PEACE!!
What Should I Be? Careers…..
Okay, so I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about what I want to be when I grow up. I have now set myself on TWO main ideas. Just to remind everyone, I am a 6th grade girl. If you find any of these occupations odd, you most likley have not met me or my family. Trust me… it would make so much more sense if you knew any one from my Dad’s side.
My first, Ruler of the Universe. If I was Ruler of the Universe (say the profesion in sort of a deep announcer voice, it sounds really cool) I would-of course- run a democratic podioum. I would also take the liberty of learning all the different languages in the world and fly into each country at least three times a year. My residence would be in the middle of nowhere in a little country I like to call, London. People would refer to me as Allie-unless I do not like them in which case it would be Lady (whatever my last name is by then)- and everyone would be their own person. (I absolutly despise people who copy others.) There would be no busses, only carpools. Hogwarts school for Whitch craft and wizardy would be real. Quiddich would be one of the main sports. I would have many people try to find a way to make broom sticks fly. Twilight would not exist (no offence Stephanie Meyer), Vampires would not sparkle, and all Disney teen/kid celebrities would not all become singers. Finally the song the Circle of Life would be the world anthem and everyone would know all the words to “I Just Can’t Wait To Be King.”
My second job, you may ask… Wizard. I would be a world famous Quiddich Seeker. Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe), Ginny Weasly (Bonnie Wright), Ron Weasly (Rupert Grint), Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) and Luna Lovegood (Evanna Lynch) would be my friends. The Dark Lord would be gone by my second year at Hogwarts. I would be one of the most powerful wizards ever. Finally, Severous Snape would be on the good side. Oh! And Robert Pattinson (Cedric Diggery) would not have signed up to do the Twilight movies.
Well, those are my dream profesions… (if you don’t believe me, ask any of my friends – especially Desree). I hope you liked them
Oh! And… NO STEALING MY IDEAS! When the first voting of who is the Ruler of the Universe comes, you can try running against me… but my sourses go far, all the way from Canada to the USA to Europe. Oh ya… Europe. Beat that!
Anyways thank you and I hope you enjoy reading my blog as much as I enjoy writing it.
Great, Fun Links To Go On Outside School
Hey People who own computers! Thanks to all of you, my last blog got 5 comments and they all just keep on coming in.
So, I just wanted to say that quickly.
Once a week, I will add a new post.
Well, you’ve read my title for this post, and I guess you know what it’s now going to be about. AWESOME LINKS!
The first one I want to tell you about is MLIA! This is one of my personal favourites. I just love it. By the way, MLIA stands for My Life Is Average…incase you didnt know. Oh! And I sugest you DO NOT read MLIA if you are a fan of Twilight. However, if you do like Harry Potter, (
) MLIA will be one of the best websites you read… MLIT-My Life is Twilight for Twilight peoples. Anyways, on MLIA people write about funny, average things that happen throughout their day. Most things are about Ninjas and Star Wars light saber battles, or Harry Potter. In my opinion, this is one of the best websites out there. I laugh so hard sometimes. They also have an “average word of the day.” Today is Sunday April 4, 2010 and the “Average word of the day” is “BEACH”. I dont know why I put beach in capitals… I just did.
Here is a recent post: Today I was selling my text book from last semester back to my university bookstore and the woman behind the counter noticed that I had written “Property of the Half-Blood Prince (tips not included)” on the inside of the cover. She gave me an extra 5 dollars for it. MLIA
By the way, I spent like 10-30 minutes trying to find one that was a good example… great.
Just Another Ordinary-Un-Ordinary Day
Today, was an un-ordinary day. Five people came in to “follow” our class all day long. Two had cameras, one had a Boom Mic and the other two were helping us cope with the oddness.
This wasn’t the first time my class has been video taped. At the beginning of the year, some people came in to see what we think high schools should be like-just so you know, we’re in grade 6- that was cool, but not as cool as today.
Another time, we had the Hamilton Spectator AND CHCH News in at the same time! I say that was the great, even though I couldn’t get video taped since my parents refused to sign the form. Best. Day. Ever.
Going back on topic… This day has gone by really fast, I have no idea how or why, but it did. It is now exactly 2:00pm and school ends at 3:00. It feels almost as though we have been here five minutes. CRAZY!
All through the day, cameras have been in our faces… It feels like I’m a movie star like Sandra Bollock or something. I’m not saying I didn’t like it, I’m only saying I understand why stars choose to quit stardom. It is crraaaazzzzyyyyy!!!! I really learn how it feels to be like that. (I think I’m going to make an account on MLIA and put this up.) What I’m really saying in this paragraph is that I understand star’s pain.
Okay, I just noticed something about myself. It is almost impossible for me to stay on topic. I mean really, one minute I’m talking about what kind of day it was, the next, I’m pretending I’m a movie star! WOW!
I promise I’ll try better right now…
Where was I.. Oh yes..
There I was, standing in the middle of the forest- OOPS wrong story.
Here we are:
Durring third and fourth periods, Leah and I were up at the SmartBoard colour coating the Web our class made. I don’t mean we were just making each spot a random colour- another student would say which bubble they thought about, and we split them up into two categories. One was yellow and the other was orange.
For the last period, this is really all we did. Blogging. I guess I don’t need to tell you about this period any more.. you sort of get the point.
I don’t mean to sound like Porky Pig but…
“That’s all folks!”
Thanks again for taking your time to read my blog. I hope you liked this post-I think it’s one of my favourites.
